Turkana tribal food bowls, also known as stones, are hand-carved by women from single pieces of indigenous, durable wood, often sourced from acacia trees found in northwestern Kenya. These bowls are designed to be lightweight and functional for semi-nomadic, pastoralist lifestyle. Some show signs of “patch repair” — traditional repairs done to fix cracks, enhancing their vintage, authentic appearance.
