The Eternity/Wedding Knot is a fair trade product handmade in Kenya. It is hand-carved out of one piece of soapstone, sanded until smooth, polished, and either kept natural or dyed black.
The two loops of the wedding knot stand for a couple that has become joined through marriage, but remain two individual people. The sculpture is often given to a couple on their wedding day with a blessing:
“May this union last as long as the stone from which the sculpture is carved.”
